A spring storm drops hail across half the metro, and by the weekend your street has yard signs from three roofing crews. Your own roof looks fine from the driveway, but the neighbor’s getting a new one and you’re starting to wonder. You need a roofing company in the Kansas City metro that’ll tell you what’s actually on your roof, even if the answer is “nothing yet.”

That kind of uncertainty wears on people. A roof is expensive, the damage is hard to see from the ground, and after every big storm it’s tough to tell the local roofers from the ones who’ll be gone by July. You deserve a straight answer from someone who’ll still be around.
APC Roofing has an office in Shawnee, Kansas, at 12410 W 62nd Terrace, and we work on homes and light commercial buildings across the metro on both the Missouri and Kansas sides. We’re a GAF Certified contractor, licensed and insured, and in business since 2017. Your inspection and estimate are free.
What Kansas City weather does to a roof
Kansas City roofs take a beating from more directions than most.
Spring and early-summer storms are the big one. Hail bruises shingles and knocks off the granules that protect them from the sun, and it dents gutters, downspouts and metal trim. Straight-line winds lift shingle edges and break the seal that holds each row down. Most hail damage doesn’t leak right away, which is why so much of it goes unnoticed until the next storm finds the weak spot.
Winter works more slowly. Temperatures swing above and below freezing over and over, and water that seeps into a cracked seal or under a lifted shingle freezes, expands and pries the gap open a little more. Snow melting on a warm roof can refreeze at the cold eave and back water up under the bottom rows.
Summer heat dries out shingles and the sealant around pipes and chimneys, especially on south- and west-facing slopes.
The roofs we work on around Kansas City
Most homes in the metro have asphalt shingle roofs, from older ranches and two-stories to newer subdivisions. Plenty also have a flat or low-slope section over a porch, garage or addition, and those sections tend to leak first. On the commercial side, it’s mostly low-slope roofs on shops, offices and small warehouses.
Here’s what we do, with links to the details:

Repair or replacement?
That’s usually the real question. A few missing shingles, a failed pipe boot or a bit of loose flashing on a roof that’s otherwise healthy is a repair. Widespread hail damage, shingles that are curling and bald, or a leak you’ve patched more than once usually means it’s time for a new roof. Sometimes the answer is that your roof has years left and doesn’t need anything. You’ll hear that from us too, with photos to back it up.
Storm damage and your insurance claim
If a storm damaged your roof, you file the claim with your insurance company and you pay your deductible. We inspect the roof, document the damage with photos, give you a written estimate and work with your adjuster so the damage is clearly accounted for. Be wary of anyone who offers to waive or cover your deductible.
How it works with APC Roofing
- Book your free inspection. Call 913-398-5020 or request an estimate online.
- Get a clear, honest assessment and estimate. You’ll see photos of what we found and get a written estimate. Financing is available through Aqua Finance, Fortifi, Hearth and Home Run Finance.
- Your roof gets done and the site gets cleaned up. Many residential projects are finished in a single day.
Waiting rarely saves money on a roof. Hail damage that doesn’t leak this year can let water into the deck next year, long before a stain shows up on the ceiling.
Questions from Kansas City homeowners
Do you work on both the Missouri and Kansas sides?
Yes. Our office is in Shawnee, and we work across the metro on both sides of the state line.
Is the roof inspection free?
Yes. The inspection and estimate are free, with no obligation.
How do I know if hail damaged my roof?
Look for dents in gutters, downspouts and metal trim, and piles of granules at the downspouts. On the roof, hail leaves dark, soft spots where granules are missing. An inspection with photos settles it.
Do you do commercial roofs?
Yes, including low-slope roofs on shops, offices and small warehouses.
