- Dark spots or a blotchy look on the side of the roof that faced the storm.
- Other damage on that same side of the house, like dented siding or a torn window screen.
- New stains on a ceiling or at the top of a wall after the next rain.
None of these prove the roof needs replacing. They tell you it’s worth a closer look.
