The storm passed an hour ago, and now there’s water dripping from the ceiling into a pot on the living room floor. Maybe a gust peeled back part of the roof, or a branch came down on it. When you need emergency roof repair in Orlando, you want two things fast: the water to stop, and someone honest to tell you how bad it really is.

That’s a stressful spot to be in. You’re worried about the ceiling, the floors and the bill, and after a big storm you’re also fielding knocks on the door from crews you’ve never heard of. You deserve a clear plan and a roofer who’ll still be around after the storm season ends.
APC Roofing is a GAF Certified roofing contractor, licensed in Florida (CCC1337030) and insured. Call 407-270-1129 and tell us what the ceiling is doing.
What to do right now
Before anyone gets on the roof, protect the inside of your house:
- Put buckets or pots under the drips and move furniture, rugs and electronics out of the way.
- If a ceiling is bulging with water, poking a small hole in the lowest point lets it drain into a bucket instead of collapsing.
- Keep water away from light fixtures and outlets. If water is near anything electrical, shut off that circuit at the breaker.
- Take photos of the ceiling, the floor and anything that got wet. You’ll want them later.
- Stay off the roof. Wet shingles and tile are slick, and a storm-damaged deck may not hold your weight.
Then call a roofer.
Emergency roof repair in Orlando: what counts
Most roof problems can wait for a regular appointment. These usually can’t:
- Water actively coming into the house
- A section of shingles, tile or underlayment torn away so the wood deck is exposed
- A tree or large limb on the roof
- Flashing ripped loose around a chimney, wall or skylight
If you’re not sure which one you have, call and describe it. We’ll tell you plainly whether it needs attention now or can wait for a scheduled visit.
Why Orlando roofs leak when they do
Central Florida roofs take a beating in ways that show up all at once. Most summer afternoons bring a thunderstorm with heavy, wind-driven rain that pushes water sideways into any gap. Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, and even a storm that passes well south of Orlando can bring enough wind to lift shingle edges or crack tiles. Year-round sun dries out sealants and the rubber boots around vent pipes until they split.
That’s why the stain on your ceiling often isn’t right under the problem. Water gets in at a pipe boot, a valley or a wall, then runs along the underside of the deck before it drips through. Fixing the spot directly above the stain is how leaks come back. We start in the attic, find the highest wet mark, and trace it to the spot on the roof that actually failed. Our roof leak repair page covers that tracing in more detail.
Temporary protection versus a real repair
When a roof is open, the first job is a temporary cover. A good tarp goes over the ridge and is fastened down with strips of wood along the edges, not weighed down with bricks that roll off in the next gust. That can keep the house dry for a few weeks.
A tarp isn’t a repair, though. Left up for months, it traps heat and moisture against the shingles underneath and can cause damage of its own. Once the weather clears and the deck dries, the failed part gets fixed properly: new flashing worked in under the shingles, a new pipe boot, a rebuilt valley or replaced decking. Caulk smeared over a gap doesn’t count.
Storm damage and insurance
If the damage came from a storm, document it before anything is changed. We photograph the damage, the failed parts and the finished repair, and you get a copy of everything.
If you decide to file a claim, you file it yourself, and you pay your own deductible. We’ll give you a written estimate and work with your adjuster so the damage is clearly accounted for. Our insurance roof claims and hurricane damage roof repair pages walk through that process.
Repair, or is it time to replace?
One failed detail on an otherwise healthy roof is a repair. If the shingles are brittle everywhere, granules are piling up in the gutters, or leaks keep showing up in new places, patching only buys time. We’ll tell you which one you have and show you photos so you can see it yourself. You make the final call. For smaller problems that aren’t emergencies, see our Orlando roof repair page.

Questions about emergency roof repair
Should I get on the roof to put a tarp up myself?
We’d rather you didn’t. A wet, storm-damaged roof is dangerous, especially on a two-story house or a tile roof. Protect the inside of the house and let a roofer handle the outside.
Will homeowners insurance pay for emergency roof repair?
That comes down to your policy and what caused the damage. Sudden storm damage is often covered; wear and age usually aren’t. We document what we find so you and your adjuster work from the same facts. You file the claim and pay your deductible.
Why does my roof only leak in heavy storms?
Wind-driven rain gets pushed sideways and uphill into gaps that a gentle rain never reaches, like lifted shingle edges, worn flashing or a cracked pipe boot. It’s still a real leak, and it’s usually easy to fix once it’s found.
Do you charge for the inspection?
No. The inspection and estimate are free.
Get your house dry and your roof sound
A small leak left alone doesn’t stay small. Water soaks the deck, the insulation and the drywall, and in Florida’s humidity wet materials can start growing mold. You don’t have to fix everything today. It just helps to know exactly what you’re dealing with.
The next afternoon storm rolls through, and the pot stays in the kitchen cabinet. That’s the goal: a dry house, a roof you trust, and no surprise bill. Call 407-270-1129 to book your free inspection, or start with our free online estimate.
