Your roof has made it through a lot of Denver summers, and now something’s off. Maybe it’s a water stain in a bedroom corner, shingles in the yard after a windy night, or an insurance letter asking how old the roof is. You need residential roofing in Denver from someone who’ll tell you what the roof actually needs, not the most expensive answer they can sell.

Most homeowners only deal with a roof a couple of times in their lives, so it’s normal to feel unsure about who to call or what a fair recommendation looks like. You deserve a roofer who explains things in plain words and leaves the decision with you.
APC Roofing has been in business since 2017. We’re GAF Certified, licensed and insured, and your inspection and estimate are free. Call 720-902-6940 to set up a visit.
What Denver does to a home’s roof
A Denver roof deals with weather that’s hard on roofing materials, often all in the same year.
Hail. Summer storms can bruise shingles, knock off the granules that protect them from the sun, and dent vents and gutters. Bruised shingles can look fine from the yard and fail a season or two later.
Sun at altitude. UV is stronger a mile up. It dries out shingles and the rubber boots around plumbing vents, and it fades and weakens cheaper materials faster than you’d expect.
Wind. Strong gusts can lift shingle edges and break the seal that holds them down. Once a shingle’s seal is broken, the next wind can tear it off.
Freeze and thaw. Snow that melts during the day and refreezes at night can back water up under shingles at the eaves. Big daily temperature swings also work nails and sealants loose over time.
Residential roofing in Denver: the roofs we work on
Most Denver homes have asphalt shingles, and that’s where most of our residential roofing work is. Architectural shingles are the common choice for a replacement, and impact-resistant shingles are worth asking about in hail country. Read more about shingle roofing in Denver.
We also work on metal roofs, including standing seam and stone-coated steel; on clay and concrete tile; and on the flat or low-slope sections many homes have over porches, garages and additions. Gutters, fascia and soffits are part of the roof edge, and we handle those too.
Repair or replacement for your Denver home?
A repair is often the right call when the damage is in one area. A few missing or creased shingles, a cracked pipe boot or a loose piece of flashing at a chimney can be fixed without touching the rest of the roof. See our roof repair in Denver page for more.
A roof replacement in Denver makes more sense when hail has damaged shingles across whole slopes, the roof is near the end of its life, or leaks keep coming back after patches. Curling, cracking and bald spots where the granules have worn off are signs a roof is wearing out.
You’ll get photos of what we found and a clear explanation, so you can see the problem for yourself.
What a residential roof replacement involves
If your home needs a new roof, here’s what the work generally looks like.
The old roof comes off down to the wood deck, and any soft or rotted decking gets replaced so the new roof has something solid to hold onto. An ice-and-water barrier goes along the eaves and in valleys, where melting snow and heavy rain are most likely to back up, with underlayment over the rest of the deck. New drip edge and flashing go in at the edges, walls, chimneys and vents. Then the shingles go on, nailed to the manufacturer’s pattern.
Many residential projects are finished in a single day. Larger or more complex roofs take longer, and you’ll know the timeline before work starts. Your contractor should also pull any permit the job needs.
Hail damage and your insurance claim
If a storm damaged your roof, you file your own claim with your insurance company and pay your own deductible. We inspect the roof, document the damage with photos, give you a written estimate and work with your adjuster. Be wary of anyone who offers to waive or cover your deductible. Trust matters, and that’s a promise no honest roofer should make.
How it works
- Book your free inspection. Call 720-902-6940 or request a free estimate online.
- Get a clear, honest assessment and estimate. You’ll see photos, hear whether it’s a repair or a replacement and why, and get a written estimate. Financing is available through Aqua Finance, Fortifi, Hearth and Home Run Finance.
- Your roof gets done and the site gets cleaned up. The crew cleans up before leaving.
Putting it off rarely saves money. A small leak can soak insulation and rot decking for months before you see a stain, and by then the repair is bigger.
Residential roofing questions from Denver homeowners
Are impact-resistant shingles worth it in Denver?
They’re worth considering. They’re built to hold up better to hail than standard shingles. Some insurers offer a discount for them, so it’s worth asking your agent.
How can I tell if my roof has hail damage?
Look for dented gutters, downspouts and vents, and for piles of granules where the downspouts drain. The shingles themselves need a closer look from on the roof.
Can a new roof go over my old shingles?
Sometimes, but a full tear-off is usually the better choice. It lets the deck be checked and repaired, and it puts the ice-and-water barrier where it belongs.
Do you only do shingle roofs?
No. We also work on metal, tile and flat roofs, and on gutters, siding, fascia and soffits.
