You’ve made the call: the old roof is done. Now you’ve got brochures for shingles, metal and tile, three estimates that don’t line up, and a nagging question about which of these crews will actually do the work right. Roof installation in Deltona is one of the biggest projects you’ll take on for your house, and you only want to do it once.

Roofers installing underlayment during a roof replacement

It’s normal to feel unsure. Most of what makes a roof last ends up hidden under the surface, and you won’t be up there watching. You deserve a clear explanation of the choices and an installer you can trust with the parts you’ll never see.

APC Roofing is GAF Certified, licensed in Florida (CCC1337030) and insured, and we’ve been installing roofs since 2017. Your inspection and estimate are free. Call 386-259-8425 to get started.

Choosing a roof for a Deltona home

The roof you pick has to live with Central Florida weather: strong sun all year, heavy afternoon storms most of the summer and hurricane season from June through November. Each of the common options handles that a little differently.

Architectural shingles

This is the most common new roof on Deltona homes. Architectural shingles are thicker than old-style 3-tab shingles, look more dimensional and are made to resist higher winds. They’re usually the most budget-friendly choice, and many residential shingle projects are finished in a single day. Our architectural shingle page for Deltona covers them in detail.

Metal

Standing-seam metal uses panels joined at raised seams with hidden fasteners. It handles wind and heat well, and light colors reflect much of the sun. It costs more up front than shingles, and some homeowners want the look.

Tile

Concrete and clay tile give a home a classic Florida look and stand up to sun for a long time. Tile is heavy, so the framing has to be able to carry it, and installation takes longer than shingles. Our tile roof installation page goes through it.

There’s no single right answer. It comes down to your budget, how long you plan to stay, what your house can carry and what you want it to look like. We’ll lay out the trade-offs for your specific roof and let you decide.

What a good roof installation looks like

Two roofs made from the same material can perform very differently. The difference is in the details, and these are worth asking any installer about.

The old roof comes all the way off. Going over an old roof hides problems in the decking and adds weight. A full tear-off lets the crew see and fix the wood underneath.

Bad decking gets replaced. Soft or rotted plywood won’t hold nails well, and in a strong wind that matters. Replacing those sections is part of a proper install, and you should hear about it before the work starts.

The right underlayment, sealed at the weak points. Valleys, eaves and the areas around pipes get extra protection, because that’s where wind-driven rain tries hardest to get in.

New flashing. Reusing tired flashing around walls and pipes to save a few minutes is one of the most common reasons new roofs leak. Pipe boots, drip edge and wall flashing should be new.

Fastening done to spec. Shingles have a specific nailing zone, and nails placed too high or too few per shingle cut the wind resistance. On metal and tile, the attachment method matters just as much.

A permit and a final inspection. Most re-roofs need a building permit. Ask who pulls it and when the final inspection happens.

What installation day looks like at your house

Expect a dumpster or trailer in the driveway, a lot of noise and crews on the roof from morning on. It helps to move cars out of the garage beforehand, take fragile things off walls that share the roof framing, and keep pets somewhere calm and away from the work. Let us know about anything in the yard you’re worried about, like a garden bed or pool cage, so it can be planned for.

When the work is done, the crew cleans up the debris, and you’ll get a walk-through of the finished roof.

Paying for a new roof

A new roof is a big expense, and it doesn’t always come at a convenient time. Financing is available through our partners Aqua Finance, Fortifi, Hearth and Home Run Finance. Our roof financing page for Deltona explains how it works.

Roof installation questions from Deltona homeowners

How long does a roof installation take?

Many residential shingle roofs are finished in a single day. Metal, tile and larger or more complex roofs take longer. You’ll get a realistic timeline with your estimate.

Can I switch from shingles to tile?

Sometimes. Tile is much heavier than shingles, so the roof framing has to be checked first to confirm it can carry the load.

What’s the difference between roof installation and roof replacement?

Not much in practice. A replacement removes the old roof and installs a new one. Our roof replacement page for Deltona covers the signs it’s time.

Do I need to be home during the install?

It helps to be reachable, but you don’t need to stand in the yard. Just make sure the crew can get to the house and any outdoor outlets they may need.

How it works with APC Roofing

  1. Book your free inspection. Call 386-259-8425 or request a free online estimate.
  2. Get a clear, honest assessment and estimate. You’ll see photos of your current roof, the options that make sense and a written estimate for each.
  3. Get your new roof and a clean property. We install the roof and clean up before we leave.

Putting off a roof that’s past due usually costs more. Each rainy season gives water another chance to reach the decking, and a straight swap can turn into a bigger repair.

When the job’s done, you’ll have a new roof that was put on right, a house that stays dry through hurricane season and the confidence that you made a good call. Call 386-259-8425 to book your free inspection. Your satisfaction is our reputation.
